According to EU statistics, the EU issued 658,000 tons of soft wheat export licenses in the week ending September 1, setting the second largest weekly increase since this year.
This brought the total wheat exports in the first nine weeks of 2010/11 to 3.34 million tons, an increase of 16.6% from 2.86 million tons in the same period of last year.
Last week, the EU wheat exports amounted to 856,000 tons, making the total volume of exports so far this year reached 2.68 million tons, compared with 671,000 tons in the same period of last year.
