Character identification
1. Benzoin is a compacted mass of spherical particles, of various sizes, reddish-brown to brown, rough, with yellow-white and gray-white opaque particles. Brittle, heat, soften and melt. Aromatic and slightly spicy.
2. Vietnamese benzoin is an irregular patch that often sticks together and is slightly flat. The surface is orange-yellow and has a waxy luster (natural fat). It is also irregularly spherical or flat, with a pale surface to pale yellowish white ( Artificial cutting fat). Brittle and fragile, flat section, white. Gradient light yellow-brown to reddish brown. It is aromatic, slightly pungent and chewed with sand.

Vietnam benzoin
1. Take this product about 0.25g, set dry tube, slowly heated, that is, the occurrence of irritating aroma, and produce the most prismatic crystal of sublimate.
2. Take about 0.1g of the product, add 5ml of ethanol and filter. Filtrate plus 5% ferric chloride ethanol solution 0.5ml, that is bright green, then turned yellow-green.
