Compressed air quality testing in the pharmaceutical industry

Compressed air quality testing in the pharmaceutical industry

Compressed gas is a major source of power in the pharmaceutical industry. It runs through fermentation, crystallization, drying, filtration and other production processes. Therefore, compressed air quality testing is particularly important in the daily testing and verification of the pharmaceutical industry.
There are two types of compressed air commonly used: one is a general lubricating oil compressor system for the pneumatic components of the instrument, and is not in direct contact with the drug; the other is an oil-free compressed air system, which is in direct contact with the production of the drug. Since the quality of compressed air in direct contact with pharmaceutical production will affect the quality of the drug, pharmaceutical manufacturers use oil-free compressed air systems.

2010 GMP certification requirements for compressed air oil and water (dew point):
Oil content: <0.1 mg/m3
Water content: <-40Td (°C) corresponds to an absolute humidity of 100mg/m3
(corresponding to ISO8573 and GB13277 compressed air secondary standard)

The presence of moisture, dust, grease, etc. in compressed air is likely to cause the following adverse effects:
(1) When the oil vapor mixed in the compressed air is concentrated to a certain extent, an explosive and flammable source is formed, and the lubricating oil vaporizes to form an organic acid, which easily corrodes the inner surface of the compressed air pipe and the pneumatic components.
(2) Incorporating tiny particles (such as dust, rust, etc.), it is easy to damage pneumatic components, block the orifice, and it is more serious to cause serious pollution to materials.
(3) The water mixed in the compressed air will saturate and precipitate water droplets under a certain temperature and pressure. When the compressed air is in contact with the material, it will easily have a serious impact on the quality of the material.
Therefore, in order to meet the requirements of GMP, it is necessary to periodically check the quality of compressed air.

Germany Dräger compressed air quality detector as the 2010 version of GMP standard oil and water testing recommended brand, has won the trust and affirmation of our customers, Shenzhen Runbo Science and Technology Co., Ltd. specializes in providing Dräger compressed gas quality detectors for users. The oil detection kit, oil detection tube, water detection tube, carbon monoxide detection tube, carbon dioxide detection tube, sulfur dioxide detection tube, nitrogen oxide detection tube and accessories are included in the detector.
