China Agricultural University transformed genetically engineered insect-resistance genes into common maize, established a maize gene-gun conversion system, obtained transgenic insect-resistant maize plants for the first time in China, and successfully established a high-efficiency maize Agrobacterium transformation system to make maize. The Agrobacterium transformation rate of immature embryos reached 21.2%, and the excellent inbred ensemble 31 was up to 35.7%. At the same time, breakthroughs have been made in the transformation system of maize inbred lines. Embryoid induction and transformation have been carried out on good inbred lines 3, 31 and so on, and a large number of transgenic plants have been obtained with an average conversion rate of 6.9%. Insect-resistant corn has been approved by the Ministry of Agriculture's "Agricultural Biology Genetic Engineering Safety Committee" for intermediate testing and environmental release. Objectives These new varieties have been tested in Anhui, Jilin and Henan provinces.
