Vocera Communications, which is based in San Jose and providing communication services for hospitals and medical systems, recently acquired clinical communications company Extension Healthcare for $55 million. The acquisition will be conducted in full cash transactions.
After the acquisition, the two companies' technologies complement each other to create a mobile communication and collaboration platform within a single system of a single vendor. Through the Extension software, Vocera will be able to extend the interoperability and compatibility of its platform with more than 120 clinical systems including HER, surveillance devices, enterprise clinical systems and ventilators.
