WHO calls for standardized organ transplants According to the Xinhua News Agency, Geneva, March 31, the World Health Organization issued a communiqué on the 30th, calling on countries to take measures to regulate organ transplants, especially to stop the growing phenomenon of "organ transplant tourism."
According to the communique, due to the lack of laws on organ donation and organ transplantation, or lax enforcement, the mercantilism of organ transplantation is very serious, and the phenomenon of “organ transplant tourism†is also increasing. The so-called "organ transplant tourism" mainly refers to the wealthy people in western developed countries who travel to developing countries in order to find their urgently needed transplant organs, because these countries donate more organs and are cheaper for profit. WHO officials say that if all countries adopt a uniform approach in the field of organ transplantation and stop commercial use of organs, organ transplants will be more standardized and will reduce the health tragedy caused by the lack of transplanted organs.
